Another Ravelry / Etsy pattern, Fiona's Top is a lovely a-line, swing top, sized from 3-6 months, all the way up to 6 years.The pattern is not charted (I prefer charts), but is very detailed. It is also a bit expensive at $9 US, but I look forward to altering it to have different 7 stitch repeating patterns and as well, plan to do a stripe version, without the eyelets.
It is knit on 3.5 mm needles with a fingering weight yarn - I used allhemp3 in raspberry with a small amount of lilac. This was the first project that I have knit in the allhemp3 and while it does feel a bit like string, it also is not slippery which can make it an excellent yarn for beginners.
The lanaknits site offers the following advice when working with hemp:
TIPS: The more hemp is put through the washing machine and drier the softer and softer it will become,yet it will not shrink, stretch, fade or pill! If you find hemp a little stiff, try allhemp6LUX or soak the 100% hemp in hot water and hair conditioner...air dry and wind into a ball and knit away!
I loved the finished result and my daughter Ava already wants to know when she can have it back from the studio!
